Graphing Money

Mrs. Williamson did a graphing lesson that was in our Harcourt Math math books on graphing money. The students had to sort the coins by name and value. Then they had to graph them on a graph. They counted how many coins they had on each graph and identified the coin that had the most and the coin that had the least.

Here is a paper with all of the coins placed on the graph on it.
Tu Ti Tah

The students are dancing to the song the Tu Ti Tah. This song is one of their favorite ones of all. They want to play that song everyday.
Hot Pink Bunnies

The students are gluing pieces together to make neon pink bunnies for Easter. This is another great TLC activity that came from the TLC book Cut and Create for All Seasons. I had the pieces copied onto colored paper and cut them out. All the students had to do was glue them together. When they dried I hung them out in the hallway to decorate for Easter.
Graphing Easter M&M's

I gave each child a brown paper towel and a few pastel colored M&M's. They sorted them by color.

The students graphed the M&M's on a sheet of paper in the correct color column. They read and answered the questions about the graph at the bottom of the page. When they finished their paper and an adult had checked it they were allowed to eat their M&M's.
Drosselmeyer's Surprise Visit
On Friday, April 10, 2009 I took Drosselmeyer the cat to school to visit the students. The students had fun with him all day. It was strange and funny seeing a cat walking around the room meowing while we worked.

Here is Drosselmeyer in his crate that morning. He was waiting to come out. I hide him until after the morning announcements were over and then I pulled him out. All the students heard him meowing when they first came in the room so they knew it was a cat.

Here is a student petting the cat. Each one of the students came up one at a time to pet the cat. While they petted him he purred. Drosslemeyer is such a sweet cat. He let everyone pet him and hold him. He went around the room and rubbed on everyone and shared his love with them.
Easter Party
On Friday, April 10, 2009 we had our Easter Party at school.

Here is a table of students eating chips, sugar cookies and jelly beans. They had coke to drink.

Here is another table eating their food. As you can see I used dark pink and light blue plastic table clothes for the tables. We all ate out of hot pink and light blue plates. The tables that had the light blue table cloths had the hot pink plates. The tables hat had the hot pink table cloths had the blue plates. I am keeping with my pink theme and pastel colors. I love Easter since I can use a variety of shades of pink to decorate with. Who knows, maybe next Christmas I will continue my pink theme by special ordering some pink Victorian Christmas plates, cups, and napkins.

Here is a student carrying her bag and looking for some eggs.

Here is a group looking around the building for some eggs in the corner.

Here are all of the students after they finished their egg hunt. They each found 16 eggs. They are holding up their egg bags and smiling for the camera. Aren't the egg bags cute? I found them at the Dollar Tree in Valdosta and Thomasville. The bags cost $1 each.
Chehaw Park Field Trip
On Friday, April 17, 2009 some of the kindergarten classes went to Chehaw Park to look at all of the animals. Chehaw Park is so nice. We saw some beautiful animals.

Here is Mrs. Ragan driving the bus to Chehaw Park.

There was a long line in the bus lane. We had to wait forever to get in.

Here is a student petting a snake. Yuck! Not me!

Here is a group of students looking at some snakes in the window.

Some students are looking at the zebras. The zebras are a distant cousin to the horses.

Here are the American Black bears. Some of them are red due to interbreeding over time with other bears.

Flamingos! The flamingos stand on one leg when they feel comfortable and safe. They have an anatomic system where the one leg kind of locks into place so it doesn’t require any energy to stand on the one leg. They do not stand on one leg all of the time.

Here is picture of some fish swimming in the water. This picture was made at the top of the rocking bridge. Ms. Rice was dizzy just looking at the bridge. So for a few minutes I was walking around sideways and my eyes were going crazy. I was so happy when we got off that bridge. Next year I think I will skip that part.

Here is the class posing for a picture in front of the nice state of the art jungle playground at Chehaw Park. It was hard getting them to stand still long enough to take a picture when there was a beautiful playground waiting for them.

Here are some students sound asleep on the way back to school from Chehaw Park. They were tired from all that walking and playing at the zoo.
